The intro for today’s show was sent in by Joel Cramer and his 1983 Suzuki GR 650. Thanks, Joel! We got a couple more we’ll be adding to the show in the weeks to come, but you can send yours in to us, too. Keep it simple, say the name of the show and give us a good noise… preferably of your bike. I spend enough time listening to noises come outta Todd’s body, I don’t need to hear yours.
Welcome back to Todd! He’s back from the Great Northwest and ready to sit in the closet and talk motorcycles and … stuff. To celebrate, we have a feast in the Wheelnerds Cave, thanks to a suggestion from Craig. We chow down into some sandwiches… in a CAN!
“It’s Adventure… IN A CAN.”
The New York Times article about Adventure Riders: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/14/automobiles/tough-bikes-for-suburban-adventurers.html?_r=3&src=rechp
We got a test ride report and more stuff after the bump!
Can you guess what we’re riding this week? If you said, “Chuck’s new bike!” then you’re already far too familiar with the kind of lazy bastards we are, congratulations! Yes, we talk about the 2012 Triumph Thruxton. Why? Because Chuck won’t shut up about it and it was the only bike Todd could weasel a test ride on.

“Sexy. I’m bringin it back.”
Also, let’s congratulate the winner of the ADVENTURE COFFEE CONTEST! Heather and her SV… which did this:

“It’s already brought-en!”
Not only was Heather our first entry, but she so nailed it out of the park that it wasn’t even a contest anymore. Well done, Heather, and enjoy the adventure of your prize… yup. Honorable mention goes to Capt Beardylocks of ADVRider (who didn’t send in a picture, but his internet stalker did!)

“This cup. It’s filled with rum. And sex.”
We’ll be doing another contest over the winter, and we’ll make it a lot easier since it’s obvious our listeners are, for the most part, a bunch of slackers. Hey, we didn’t do a picture either, so who are we to judge?
Wrapping up for the week, take a look at listener Ronnie’s new site: http://adventurerides.org/ Looks to be pretty cool resource for people looking to take their own Big Trips (preferably with non-asploding bikes). Just like our friends over at Twistypedia, give it a visit and help it grow.
Don’t forget about our official Wheelnerds Disorganized Unpaid Correspondent Program. Basically, we want to hear some stuff from you! Ridden a bike (like your own) and got an opinion? Got a cool piece of gear or farkle? Got a story? Know some jokes? Record an MP3 (or whatever) and email it to us at wheelnerds@gmail.com. We’ll throw it on the air and talk about it, too. That’s right, you can be the first on your block to be openly mocked by the Wheelnerds. Alternatively, you could call our google talk # to the right there and leave us a message if you’ve got no way to record something. Or, even cooler, (to me, anyway), you can now also leave us a voicemail via Skype! Our skype ID iswheelnerds. Just go ahead, call, and leave us your story there! (We still read your emails, too, and will answer them on the show). If you got something really cool, shoot us a line and maybe we’ll talk to you live, too.
